Short Bio


Daniel Martínez-Ruiz graduated as Aeronautical Engineer at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) in 2011.  Five-year degree / MSc in Propulsion, diploma project versing about ‘Helicon’ plasma thrusters .

Since then, he is a PhD student at the Fluid Mechanics group at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M).  He also obtained a MSc in Industrial Mathematics in the same institution.

Daniel has performed several research collaborations in international Universities such as UCSD and Stanford (CTR) during his PhD programme. Currently, he is a visiting graduate at UCSD – MAE department.


Research collaborator at  SCORE (Sustainable COmbustion REsearch) project, funded under the CONSOLIDER-INGENIO programme by the Government of Spain.

His main research topics are related to theoretical and numerical studies of ignition and extinction of reacting two-phase flows.
