Short Bio

Jaime Carpio Huertas obtained a 6-year degree in Mechanical Engineering at the “Universidad Politécnica de Madrid” (UPM) in 2003. He also has a bachelor in Physics (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, 2006). In 2008, he received his Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Mathematics of UPM under the supervision of prof. Rodolfo Bermejo. His dissertation dealt with the development of numerical methods to solve Navier-Stokes and convection-diffusion-reaction equations employing local-mesh adaptation. The methods developed find application, in particular, to the description of the multi-scale phenomena that appear in combustion systems. In that respect, Jaime’s work has benefitted from interactions with professor Amable Liñan.
